What Does The Pattern Design Journey Look Like?
Stage 1: Gathering Inspiration
The journey starts by gathering inspiration. We'll explore where to find inspiration, how to capture your ideas, and the benefit of creating a mood board.
Stage 2: Sketching
Next in the design journey is sketching. You'll put pen or pencil or paint to paper and create the foundational elements for your pattern design.
Stage 3: Adding Color
As we move into Adobe Illustrator on the computer, you'll explore color options and add color to your sketched elements. We'll dive into coloring methods and techniques.
Stage 4: Creating Repeating Patterns
Next you'll learn the three "golden rules" of creating a repeating pattern. You'll play with placement and scale and test your pattern until it's just right.
Stage 5: Making Real Products!
Finally, you'll decide what products to put your designs onto and the different options for selling them. Explore different sales models to grow your surface pattern design business.

Hello! I'm Anne LaFollette and I'm passionate about surface pattern design. After a long corporate career, I unexpectedly got laid off! Instead of seeing that as a disaster, I started to explore my creative side, discovered surface pattern design and was HOOKED!
My mission is to help you learn and thrive in this exciting industry. Just think of the joy you and your family will experience seeing your designs on real products and selling them successfully to friends, colleagues and customers. It has transformed my life and teaching YOU everything I know brings me ultimate happiness.

When you join The Pattern Design Club, you get access to fresh content every month, our members only Facebook group, monthly LIVE Q&A session where you can ask me anything and additional coaching through monthly challenges and critiques.
If you are a monthly member, your cancellation will be effective on the first of the month following your cancellation. If you are an annual member, your cancellation will be effective at the end of the annual period. You will continue to have access to the membership until your annual period expires at which point your membership will not be renewed. There are no partial refunds for annual members so please choose wisely!
You can engage with the content as much as you want and devote as much time as works best for you. Developing strong pattern design skills takes time. But everyone should work at the pace that's most comfortable for you. You have access to all of the content and all of the support as long as your membership is active. So work at your own pace. It's not a race!
